Now the story is about my friend, we will call her Bella. She works as a server who cannot check people out because only managers can check people out where she works. Keep this in mind. Also, please do keep in mind that this is all is secondhand story, just recounting what she has told me. Now let’s get into this.
At Bella’s workplace, there are two areas up front. One is to the right which is the drive-through and check out counter. And one to the left, which is the server station which is close to the entrance of the restaurant. both of the Servers station, and the checkout counter are right next to each other.
Bella, and the other server on shift were at the server station trying to get a bottle of perfume unstuck from Bella’s bag.
This older lady walks in we shall call her Karen, of course.
Bella happily greeted her with a smile still behind the server counter and asked, “Carry out?” Karen glared at them as she scoffed out a, “Yeah.”
Bella politely smiled as she reassured the lady as she reached the counter. “They will be right with you ma’am.” Karen promptly rolled her eyes in return.
Bella and her fellow server go back to trying to get the perfume that was stuck in her bag.
Karen huffed and puffed as she glared at them. They ignored her in return given at that point they couldn’t do anything. Karen walked over behind the server station and peaks over the little ledge as snarkly says, “Order for Karen!”
Bella promptly looks up with her fellow server and points to the kitchen opening where her managers on shift are working as she responds with a big fake smile, “They will be right with you ma’am.”
The lady scoffed and walked back and just glared into the kitchen. This prompted one of the managers on shift to say from the kitchen, “So sorry about the wait we will be right with you!” (Mind you a flood of orders had just came in and at that point Bella and the other server began working on other stuff.)
Then lo and behold, her order actually came out as the manager came out of the kitchen. So either way, Miss Karen would’ve had to wait. People are so good at assuming and they take it out on others.
Throughout this whole story Karen was super impatient. She was snarky at Bella and her fellow server assuming we’re just not checking her out because they didn’t feel like it. Or maybe she thought they were slacking. I don’t know what she was assuming but I don’t want to assume myself. (Ha I’m so hilarious.) Either way in the end, it wasn’t even worth it. And quite frankly that’s not the first time someone has been like that towards Bella or her fellow servers for this.
Let me give a little piece of advice to anyone else. If you’re in the drive-through or waiting to be checked out and you noticed someone seems to be just standing around. Try not to think too far into it or assume any situation. Because in the end of the day, it could be just the fact that they are not allowed to get the cash register. Just a little food for thought and a little story to share.
I hope you enjoyed a little story by yours truly, Foxy Boii!
Peace, love, hope, and toe beans!
